RE: RV to Yellowknife?

Craig Nold sent me a hint to search on Google (Mackenzie Route to Yellowknife) and I found this site: Mackenzie Route to Yellowknife It isn't as far as I was thinking, about 18 hours from Edmonton. Sounds like a real adventure tho. It's going on my list of trips to do. BK

RE: RV to Yellowknife?

So are there places to stop along that road? I assume it is a multiday drive. BK

RV to Yellowknife?

Just wondering, has anyone gone up to the far north, Yellowknife in particular. I see that there is one campground listed but is there a drivable road up there. Just thinking about future summer trip possibilities. BK

RE: Dumping sewage at city hall?

I bet someone had an unpleasant experience with the local constabulary or politicians and is making a non-verbal complaint every year.

RE: Big Bend National and border safety

Worse thing we saw when we were there was the vultures who are the camp critters. Having a pack of bickering and vomiting buzzards sitting on top of your camp shelter when you are trying to eat lunch is a bit distasteful. I much prefer chipmunks. We didn't see any vendors across the river but we were there in July which was stupid in itself. BK

RE: Need overnight stop on the way to Topsail Hill

Suwannee Valley Campground is very nice, it is near the intersection of I10 and I75 SVCG That might to too far from Topsail for you, it's about an hour from Gainesville.

RE: Traffic Stop and Search of RV with no cause

Take a look at this pair of videos on why you should never willingly cooperate in situations like this: take the fifth The second video is by a LEO. The point is that laws are now so complex that you can easily break a law and never know it. It is literally impossible for anyone to keep up with the flood of state and federal laws. BK

RE: Be Careful Hiking! Cloudland Canyon State Park GA

OK, why do we need to be careful? We've camped there and hiked when we were camping. I saw no extreme dangers, quite a nice park actually. BK

RE: Adirondacks and bugs - Now

We spent one night near Lake Placid and didn't notice any bugs at all, about 10 days ago. And we stopped at Ft Ticonderoga and again, no bugs. BK

RE: Unhitch Or Not

Same here we leave it hitched, drop the rear jacks, disconnect the umbilical and save some time in the morning. After reading some of the posts above I think I'll start lowering the jack too. BK

RE: Potable Flat Hose

I picked up one at Walmart as an extension hose to our normal hose, I haven't had to use it yet. Hopefully it's better than the one you got. BK

RE: 2008 F150 Tire pressure

No I have some replacement agreement with Ford where they'll service and replace the tires up to 60,000 miles. Sorry I paid for that now.

2008 F150 Tire pressure

We have a 2008 F150 and the tire pressure is specified as 35 psi even tho these are 4 ply tread with 3 ply walls Goodrich Long Trail t/a. Seems low to me but both the sticker in the truck and the tires specify that 35 psi. Any ideas why this is so low? Not a real problem with our Trailmanor only weighing 4000 pounds or so. And since we have the extended tire plan we are stuck with these tires for 60,000 miles. I recall that Ford specified low tire pressure on their SUVs during the blown tire fiasco and that was supposed to be part of the problem and was wondering if they are still doing it. They were more worried about roll over stability that tire problems BK

RE: about to start our first big road trip

No need for a Weight Distributing hitch on that popup. You might have sway problems tho, be alert for it.

RE: about to start our first big road trip

Oooh..you have 12 inch tires! Be very very careful to find out what the max safe speed is on those, call your dealer if you must. Be extra careful about keeping them inflated correctly. And do not overload the Popup.

RE: about to start our first big road trip

If you aren't going to use the water don't fill the tank. You would just be towing more weight which will reduce mileage and stress your tires more. You need to carefully look at your tires and see if there is a max speed rating on them. If you have 13 inch tires then be careful, even 14 inch tires can be speed rated tho. Be careful loading the trailer, heavy stuff in FRONT not in back, watch out for sway. If you start getting it reload the trailer to front load it. The nose of the trailer should be level or slightly down. How big is this TT? Do you have a WDH or sway control?

RE: Exploring Arizona

I don't recall the road into the North Rim as being that difficult. Just some mild ups and downs. Have you tried Chiricahua National Monument? We enjoyed our time there and it was fairly cool. I think the Apache used it as summer quarters.
